My Firefly 2 Won’t Hit

My last article about my Firefly 2 not turning on turned out to be such a hit I decided to share another obstacle I tackled with my FF2. Before I continue writing this piece I want to make it clear that I’m not shitting on the Firefly 2, it’s currently one of my favorite vapes and I use mine everyday. With such heavy daily use I’ve started to encounter some problems and I suspect I’m not the only one…

At first my Firefly 2 was hitting 10/10 best tasting vapor I’ve ever encountered from an on-demand vape. After a week or so of heavy daily use it started encountering tremendous draw resistance. It got so bad one night that my freshly packed bowl actually combusted!

Here’s the troubling part… I would clean my FF2 after every couple uses (or so I thought). Cleaning would consist of me taking a disposable alcohol wipe and wiping down the bowl and mouthpiece area. Be careful not to get any alcohol on the rubber parts of the lid. Getting alcohol on the rubber will ruin it and cost you close to $40 to replace.

After the first time my FF2 got clogged and combusted I removed the mouthpiece and cleared out the fine weed particles that got sucked through the bowl. This slightly improved the draw resistance, but it didn’t fix the problem.

What To Do If Your Firefly 2 Won’t Hit

Troy suggested firing up the bowl without any bud inside the bowl to see how many little dots appeared. His suggestion turned out to be correct, less than half the dots appeared visible when the bowl was bright orange/red. I dunked a q-tip in some rubbing alcohol and started going to town on this bowl. After about a dozen q-tips about 90% of the dots were visible again! Immediately packed a bowl and my FF2 was back to its former glory hitting like a champ!!

If this tip helped you out please leave a comment. I guarantee that it will make my day. If you’re having any problems with your FF2 please tell us and we will do everything possible to walk you through it. Thank you for dropping by, see you on the moon!

Sorry to hear that Chauncey, I wrote this article specifically for your problem: https://420vapezone.com/firefly-2-combusting-weed/

If none of those suggestions work. Try stirring after every pull, and see if that solves the problem. Let us know what happens!

best tip i’ve seen if you own a 2 and like wax , next tip is the 2 has a hard time with wax or oil clogs if that’s what you want to smoke I’d buy something else . that said it’s still the greatest vape on the planet . I was ready to disassemble mine because of clogging. after reading this post , I used Q tips and a “ultra fine long” diabetic insulin pen needle on a few of the holes ….working a lot better now , may still need bowl cleaned or replaced…. I know …don’t take it apart as you may ruin your warranty quote i received from firefly …new bowl 30.00 + labor +unit shipping charges

It worked! I love my FF2. The holes are another story. I had sent it back for a deep cleaning. I tried the 500 degree burn off. I tried using beading needles and a dental pick to clean the holes. Your suggestion really worked! I have to wonder about the alcohol pads being 71 percent and the rest is some kind of antibiotic added in. I switched to 91 percent rubbing alcohol and I am skipping the wipes. THANK YOU!!! I can see through the holes again. Clogged holes makes the draw really hard.

Spending over $300.00 for two Firefly 2’s, and I was hoping for a nice draw, like a pipe, but it was a very hard draw, and I am not impressed. Right from the first day it drew so hard, that I now don’t use it. $600.00 for nothing! The reviews which I researched are crap. The two will just sit charged for nothing. Any more help is welcome. I did try a different top, and it was slightly/slightly better draw.

It was over 2 years ago that I bought two Firefly2 vapes (one for THC and one for CBD). Since then, regular cleaning has not prevented them from being harder and harder to draw, even with the filter removed from the mouthpiece. I would estimate that one FF was 90% clogged, and the other was 97% clogged. So I did a web search and found this thread.

I went to a dollar store and bought a denture brush, because it had a clump of bristles at a good angle for FF cleaning. I dipped the brush ends in Everclear, and brushed the bowl plate. Then I took a fine sewing needle and poked at a bunch of plate holes. Then I brushed with Everclear again. More effort was applied to the FF that was the most clogged.

Now I estimate that the 90% clog has improved to 75%, and the 97% has improved to 65%, and I can comfortably draw either one without straining. Thanks for the helpful tips. Hopefully I can go a few months before doing this again.

My chamber isn’t gets super bright red (2+) on the first and sometimes the second hit. Then I gotta wait like 5-7 minutes for it to get bright, otherwise it is full and I get nothing. I break up by hand and got my draw down flawless and when the light is bright I get a huge cloud. When it’s dull (almost every hit after the first) it is almost nothing. Any tips?

I’m still having issues with getting the most out of it. This is my first vape and the learning curve is harder than I expected. But when it works it WORKS.
