Fury 2 vs FOG vs Starry: Budget Weed Vape Comparison

2024 Update: These 3 portable dry herb vaporizers were the best budget-friendly options several years ago but are no longer relevant or available.

The Fury 2 inspired a rejuvenation of portable vapes and several Fury descendants still reside on the list of current Best Portable Dry Herb Vapes. The Starry is now on its 4th version and the Fog has been mostly forgotten.

What’s The Best Weed Vape For Less Than $150?

The Starry can be found for $99,
The Fury Edge for $119
The Fog for $99

If you don’t feel like watching a video or reading I’ll save you some time and tell you the Fury 2 has become my favorite cheap weed vape.

The Starry and the Fog are still both great dry herb vapes, I just find that the Fury 2 checks off the most boxes and passes the reach test more than the others. Watch the video below to get a detailed breakdown of how I came to this conclusion.

Removable Batteries

  • FOG – Removable Battery
  • Fury 2 – No Removable Battery
  • Starry – Removable Battery

While the Fog and the Starry both feature a removable 18650 battery, the Fury 2 does NOT have a removable battery.

Heating Sources

  • FOG – Hybrid Heating
  • Fury 2 – Hybrid Heating
  • Starry – Full Conduction

The Starry is full conduction, while the Fog and Fury are hybrid heating (both conduction and convection)

Temperature Controls

  • FOG – No Precise Temp Controls
  • Fury 2 – Exact Temp Control Capabilities
  • Starry – Exact Temp Control Capabilities

The Fog does not have precise temp control, forcing the user into preset temp ranges. Both the Fury 2 and the Starry have exact temp control.

I've been medicating with vaporizers, legally, since 2012. I started reviewing dry herb vaporizers and other cannabis products in 2015. I fell in love with creating content around vapes and cannabis vaporization. I'm passionate about the topic and the community. I love bringing people together and I love helping them understand the ins and outs of vaping weed.

after 20 years of rec. weed use finally getting into vaping and your reviews are incredibly helpful. The Starry for $99 on POTV was too good of a deal to turn down.

Was millimeters away from getting a Boundless CF instead, hopefully I don’t regret it.

Glad to see you survive after you tube decided to delete some but not all with similar content! I have a starry and it has replaced my pax III for portable on the go use. Easier draw than the pax and replaceable batteries. I own a lot of 18650s for my flashlights and none of them fit the starry as they use the shorter unprotected battery. I ended up buying a couple to have On hand!

I found you should place another screen on the top of the herb and the mouthpiece can go longer between cleanings.

I’ve never done a cab and am waiting for dispensaries to open this year. Can’t wait to try it!

I have used your recommendations for all of my purchases which include..
    Pax III
    Mighty
    Starry
    New Vape flowerpot

Hi Mark! I’m glad to see you’ve found my new home! That’s a great tip about the additional screen, I bet it keeps the mouthpiece screen very clean!
Let me know when you finally try your first dab! It’s going to be amazing

I went for the starry! Just got it but am not getting much if any vapor. It’s definiteky getting toasty though. Does the starry need to be packed really tight/full? Do y’all know if there’s anything like the pax press thing that made the little pucks that would work with starry?

Hi Rachel! The Starry works best with a moderate tight pack. Not so tight that it makes a puck, but tight enough so all the weed is somewhat compressed and against the walls of the oven.
I don’t think the Vape Press guys make it for the Starry yet, although they might start if there’s a demand. I know they make them for the Davinci IQ and the Mighty now.

Somebody on reddit (I’m mamapuffs over there) suggested using an extra oven screen on top of the herb and that’s working fantastic!

They also suggested removing the tiny screen from the mouthpiece to open up the airflow.

And my #girlmom tip of the day is that bobby pins (hair pins) make excellent stirring tools

YO! I just picked up the Fury 2 from Healthyrips. It let me add a coupon code to get an addtional $20 Off. So the total was $129.99 with free shipping, free bubbler, and free WPA. I am pretty stoked. I have a Divinci IQ but the draw resistance became too much for me. I also have a MV1 but for some fucking reason I keep getting inconsistent or no vapor production especially on the medium setting or ‘3 amber lights’ Getting no vapor is really fucking annoying. I heard that the Fury 2 has a nice clean and free draw so I much looking forward to that. The only thing that makes me nervous is the battery and the plastic mouthpiece. I am looking forward to unboxing this damn thing and seeing what it can do
