Don’t soak your CFV mouthpiece in alcohol

We’ve known for a bit that the finish of the Boundless CF/CFX vapes are sensitive to alcohol – many plastics and their finishes are.
Quick wipe-downs are ok, but the plastics shouldn’t be soaked.

Today a user over on FC reported that their red CFV mouthpiece got icky after touching alcohol, so I decided to take one for the team and sacrificed my CFV mouthpiece.

FOR SCIENCE

I took off the entire top assembly of the CFV and dropped it into a small jar. I added enough 91% isopropyl alcohol to cover about half of the base of the unit as well as half of the actual mouthpiece stem.

After exactly 20 minutes, I pulled it out of the alcohol. The red finish is very much destroyed.

A quick wipe with a paper towel takes the red finish completely off - by this point the red is mostly a weird slimey material. The silver finish (primer?) also stained my fingers a bit.

It’s worth noting that the actual mouthpiece/stem where the vapor flows is completely unaffected.

    I hope they will release a health assessment based on these findings. That level of chemical breakdown makes me wonder if persistent vaping heat will release dangerous fumes into the user’s lungs. Thanks for this test, I’m staying away from this vape.
