I’ve been using this style of bong since 2017. The Faberge Egg, or “Fab Egg,” had become one of the most popular Chinese copycat bongs of the decade, and the Straight Fab is an elongated and simplified version of the Fab Egg.

What makes the Straight Fab SO GOOD?

• Small Footprint – This bong takes up very little desk space. Its base is about the size of a coaster.
  
• Stable – Even with its small base, this bong has a low center of gravity. It’s hard to tip over.
  
• Open Airflow – A proper Straight Fab will have open and unrestricted airflow. This bong is perfect for high airflow vaporizers, like ball vapes. Don’t settle for 14mm versions unless you like slower, smaller hits.
  
• Simple Percolator – The Straight Fab has minimal percolation, which means minimal flavor loss.
  
• Swiss Perc Bubble Extender – The cool holes in the body reduce the volume of the bong’s cavity while serving as a ladder for the bubbles to climb. My Signature Straight Fab is 13″ tall, and the bubbles will stack all the way to the top.

The Straight Fab has a small footprint and a low center of gravity – making this bong surprisingly stable. It’s perfect for ball vapes, because the last thing you want is a hot coiled vape tipping over with your bong.

I’ve been using a Straight Fab with dry herb vaporizers for 7 years. There are plenty of great options out there, but the Straight Fab keeps bringing me back. Nothing hits smoother for my style of hit. I like to hit my ball vapes hard and fast, and the large Straight Fab is perfect for it.

With an 18mm intake, the Straight Fab has high airflow. The pinch point should be the weed, not the bong.

What’s the purpose of the Swiss Perc?

The Swiss Perc gets its name from Swiss Cheese. The lacy holes go straight through the bong. If you look closely, you can see a smaller glass “can” welded on the inside. Each hole is a weld between the outer and inner glasses.

This dramatically reduces the internal volume of the bong itself, which maximizes flavor and minimizes flavor loss.

It also affects the water bubbles! The welded holes create a multi-channeled path for smoke or vapor to travel. This makes the bubbles last longer – an effect often referred to as “stacking”.

The Swiss Perc extends the bubblestack without adding any additional percolation or flavor loss.

Straight Fab Versions and Varieties

Over the years, there have been many Straight Fabs varieties. The original maker was MotherShip Glass. The Chinese imitations were simplified and sent to every Chinese glassmaker, it seems. While the egg-shaped version of the Fab Egg was considerably more popular, the Straight Fab lived on through dedicated 420vapezone watchers and vape enthusiasts.

18mm and 14mm Joint Variety

My first Straight Fab was 14mm, and I still love it for dabs. Nowadays I use a 14mm for my dabrig and an 18mm version for my ball vape.

If you’re planning to use this with a ball vape or a high airflow dry herb vaporizer, get the 18mm version.

Color Options

The “original copies” were all clear, but over the years, several colorways have come out. CaliBear offers several color options for the Straight Fab.

Cannabis Hardware Straight Fab Collab

During the start of the Ball Vape Revolution, I collaborated with Cannabis Hardware on a ball vape bundle. It included the B-zero ball vape and a special version of the Straight Fab, exclusive to Cannabis Hardware.

This Signature Straight Fab had strict specifications that were a struggle for import glass makers to fulfill. All of the rejected versions eventually hit the Chinese export websites.
