The CAPU grinder is a threadless weed grinder with interchangeable teeth and brilliant color combinations.
It's designed and produced in Germany, where engineering is taken very seriously.
The CAPU grinder is 2.7" wide and 2.5" tall. (70mm x 64mm). It's a 4-piece grinder with a kief screen. The screen is nonremovable, and the grinder does not reassemble securely as a 3-piece unit.
It's 155 € (about $180) but seems to go on sale frequently.

Design & Colors
The first thing that stands out about the CAPU grinder is its color options. This grinder is available in several bold and beautiful color combinations. I chose the Watermelon option, with pine green on the outside and pink on the inside.
The turquoise and titanium versions will be on my wish list if this grinder passes any of my reach tests.

Its larger size feels great with the 12-sided dodecagon design. It's easy to hold and easy to turn. It's nearly as tall as it is wide.
Build Quality
The CAPU grinder has many parts, but its simple design keeps everything in a tight, clean unit. It's a large grinder that uses 42 neodymium magnets to hold it together.

Its surface anodization looks and feels great. I'll be watching closely as I put the CAPU grinder through rigorous testing.
The removable, interchangeable teeth design makes the grinder easier to clean, but I worry that some of these magnets may fail if not properly maintained.

This thing has a LOT of magnets, and that worries me. Magnets are usually held in with glue, and lost magnets are the #1 failure point in weed grinders. I've watched grinder companies struggle with magnet adhesive for their first 18 months of existence - it's a very real problem. The CAPU has over 40 different magnets, while most weed grinders have 2.
Grind Consistency & Options
This is where push comes to shove. The CAPU looks amazing, but can it grind weed?

CAPU Fine Grind plate has an abundance of teeth, which makes loading nugs more work than most grinders. It's helpful to break the nug up into several smaller pieces and push them down into the teeth.
Turning and grinding isn't overly difficult with my current selection of buds, but they're old and dry. The Fine teeth may struggle with moist sticky nugs.

The Fine Grind isn't very fine, but it's extremely consistent.
I don't know that I've seen another weed grinder put out this type of grind consistency. Is this the result of all the extra teeth?

After using it for a week
I've only been testing the CAPU grinder for a short time, but I've already noticed a few things that are worth noting.
The finish of the parts tends to accumulate small particles. This is common on the first couple of nugs, but this grinder has been exceptionally clingy. The underside of the top half accumulates quite a bit of herb and needs to be brushed clean frequently.

This type of accumulation may not bother everyone, but as a vaporist it can be extra annoying because we're often vaping smaller amounts and switching strains frequently.
When I grind a 0.5 g nug, the grinder holds 0.2 g hostage. It's not a problem if I just keep grinding, but I prefer to brush it out when switching strains at a minimum.

The bottom, or bowl, section also accumulates substantial amounts of herb particles. I use weed scoops to move dry herb from the grinder to my vape. The accumulated herb is easy enough to knock down with the scoop, but it's annoying.
If you're rolling blunts and smoking your weed, these things may not be a bother at all!
I LOVE the huge storage area for ground-up herb. The CAPU grinder can probably hold upwards of 5 grams of ground herb.
Quality of Kief Collection
Judging the quality of kief can be a bit of a crapshoot because the quality of the flower plays a big role, too.
The flower I'm using to test right now is several months old. Fresh flower is better for showing off trichome head preservation. Dry flower tends to crumble apart and leave a lot of leafy plant matter in the kief.
Kief collected from the CAPU grinder is riddled with jagged leaf chunks. No one is making hash with their grinder kief these days, but I'd like to see better than this. This could be the result of old weed.

The CAPU is still currently in testing. I'm currently comparing kief collection with other grinders, like the Santa Cruz Shredder, which is the king of kief collection. I want to see more trichome heads and fewer pieces of plant matter. Kief from nicer grinders *almost* looks like dry sift hash.
Maintenance Requirements
Many of today's top-tier weed grinders don't require any maintenance or cleaning. The CAPU Grinder will need some casual cleaning from time to time, but it's not a deal breaker. The CAPU is easy to clean.

The top section of the CAPU grinder has already begun to accumulate grinder hash. This isn't abnormal, but the size of the "hash accumulation zone" is larger than usual.
The additional depth may make cleanup easier, or it may just be more difficult overall.

As hash builds up on the top section of the CAPU grinder, the pieces no longer fit smoothly.
The top section can become difficult to open and close if not kept clean. It's not much of a problem for me, at least not yet. I've only gone through about 5 grams with it so far, though.
