The LimeLight Frolic is perhaps the most anticipated dry herb vaporizer of the year.
This vape aimed high and made big promises.
Since this vape is extremely new, I am conducting a live review of the Limelight Frolic. This page and the video will be continually updated as my testing progresses. Please consider this review a work in progress. I’m still in my honeymoon stage with this vape.

LimeLight Frolic Vaporizer Rating
It’s still very early in the review process, so please take all of these scores with a grain of salt. I typically test vaporizers for many months before settling in on these scores, but I’m going to try a web-first approach with this vape.

Build Quality
The Frolic feels great! The beige parts are made of PEEK plastic, and the black parts are also made of PEEK, but they look and feel like metal. The vape feels heavy in the hand and is solid. It could be used as a blunt-force-trauma murder weapon for sure!

The vape is made of metal and PEEK plastic. The Frolic has a Stainless Steel heater, and the top and bottom are also thick metal. The round cap that holds the cooling unit together is made of metal, and the bottom plate is also metal.
Overall, the Frolic feels very well made. This feels nicer than Storz & Bickel. It’s rugged, feeling like the TinyMight, but engineered and tactical.
Bowl Access & Interface
The Frolic’s cooling unit pulls off to reveal the bowl and removable battery. It takes some wiggling and force to remove the cooling unit. It’s not a problem, but I could see where it may be a problem for some. The grippable area on each side of the bowl is quite small. I struggle a bit removing it, but the performance makes me overlook the struggle.

Software & Controls
The Frolic has both On-Demand and Session mode. The bottom screen displays the mode, the set temperature, and the timer. On-demand mode and session mode displays are slightly different from each other.
This vaporizer has three buttons: the power button and the plus and minus buttons.
Press both the PLUS and MINUS buttons simultaneously to adjust the mode and temperature.

On-Demand Mode – The time counts up as the button is held. The heater is only activated while the button is held.

Session Mode – The time counts down. The heater is on continuously, with no button holding required.
While in On-Demand mode, the heater is only activated when the power button is held. It takes about 5 seconds to heat up. The LED will light orange while the heater is heating, and it will turn green when the heater is ready. The Frolic will also vibrate.
I found the screen and controls slightly confusing at first, but quickly figured everything out.
Vapor Quality & Potency
The Frolic is a cloud factory. It chucks vapor with ease and there’s no sacrifice on the flavor.

This vape has a vapor signature that’s fluffy, similar to the Storz & Bickel Venty, but the Frolic is much more potent. The Frolic hits like the Tinymight 2 or the Tafee Bowle 2. This vape has massive power and excellent flavor.
The cooling unit does a great job of cooling the vapor down. I’ve cranked it up to 428°F and can still take big lung-buster hits.
Battery Life
It’s too soon to know what kind of battery life I’m getting. My Frolic arrived mostly charged. I vaped 6 bowls with it and it was reporting 50% charge.
I’ve since charged it and am counting my bowls. It appears that the Frolic is capable of delivering 10-15 bowls per charge, depending on its usage.
Current Thoughts – New Best Portable?
WOW, this vape is blowing me away. I don’t think I’ve ever loved a new portable vape this much.
A few days ago, I was worried that a different, new, unnamed vaporizer would be hogging all of my attention and that the Frolic would get neglected… now I’m afraid it will be the other way around!
Those who pre-ordered the Frolic will be rewarded with a fantastic vaping experience.
This vape will be one of the top 5 best portable vapes, likely #1. It’s that good.
Check out my top portable vapes list and leave a comment with which vape you think goes head-to-head against the Frolic first. TWO-FIST-TUESDAY STREAM, Coming Tuesday the 29th.
Complaints & Room for Improvements
It’s very difficult to find faults with the Frolic. The Limelight designer is on a whole new level.
The top is hard to remove. I spoke with the Limelight representative, and he told me that my O-ring was not adequately lubricated. A properly lubed ring will make the top easier to open.
I have to wiggle the top or lift with more force than is required. It’s not impossible, but it requires both hands and there’s no way I could do it while driving. Hypothetically speaking.
I accidentally turn the device on, often.
Every time I snap the cooling unit back onto the Frolic, my fingers press both the UP/DOWN buttons simultaneously, which turns the Frolic on and takes it into the settings menu. I can’t turn the device OFF from the settings menu – 3 clicks doesn’t do it. Exiting the settings menu returns to the main menu. The device can now be turned off.
Accidentally turning the Frolic on by pressing the two bottom buttons means seven more clicks to turn the device off.
While carrying the Frolic in my front shorts pocket, I’ve looked down and noticed the screen lit up, displaying the settings menu. The vape will turn itself off again after a minute or two, but I find this happening often, and since this vape is so good, I need to nitpick about something.
How does Frolic compare to Other Vapes?
The Frolic has been rapidly climbing the ranks of portable herb vapes. Here’s a quick breakdown of how the Frolic compares to the other good vaporizers.

Frolic vs Venty
The Frolic has more power and more airflow than the Venty.
The vapor itself is of a similar quality, very fluffy. Both of these vaporizers use a hybrid heating system, similarly sized bowls, and elongated vapor paths made out of PEEK.
Both the Frolic and the Venty are made out of PEEK plastic.
Frolic has On-Demand mode as well as Session, and its heater will reach 464°F. The Venty will only go as high as 410°F.
Frolic has more convection power. It can extract more quickly and more thoroughly than the Venty.
The Frolic also has a removable 21700 battery, while the Venty’s battery is not replaceable.
The Venty is easier to open and close, and easier to load and unload. The Venty cooling unit twists off with ease. The Frolic’s cooling unit requires some wiggling and pulling.
The Venty is a better “i’m focused on life, not vaping” experience. The Frolic is a better vaporizer.

Frolic VS TinyMight 2
Frolic and Tinymight 2 are very similar in terms of power, features, and performance. Both of these vaporizers use a high surface area heater made of precisely wound stainless steel foil.
Both of these vapes have an on-demand mode with fast heat-up, but the Frolic heats up faster.
The Frolic better fits my vape preferences than the Tinymight 2. They’re both very powerful vaporizers, but the Frolic’s interface is more accessible. The Tinymight 2 is more of a craftsman vape.
The Frolic is easier to use, has better vapor, and has a bigger battery.

Frolic VS Tafee Bowle 2
Now this is a challenge.
The Bowle 2 is one of the most advanced portable dry herb vaporizers in existence. Tafee did their math with the Bowle 2, and it’s a technological marvel.
The Bowle has a faster heat-up time. It’s near-instant. This vape has five temperature settings instead of full digital control. It also uses a ceramic capsule system and a unique loading stem.
The Bowle isn’t a pocket vape. That’s the biggest and easiest deciding factor here. If you want to carry your vaporizer in your pocket, get the Frolic.
The Bowle 2 has its place. The Frolic does more with its power than the Bowle. It can vape small or large amounts, while the Bowle does best with small and medium-sized fills.
This will make an interesting 2-fist Tuesday in the future. Until then, check out my Bowle 2 Review.
Please compare it to the TM2 and Tafée Bowle 2!
DEFINITELY
This device is amazing and the build quality will far exceed anything out there. I own several limelight products and they are up there above everything.
That is so great to hear. I don’t have any other Limelight products, but I’m so in love with this Frolic
Excellent information and perspective here. Thanks Troy.
Thank you so much!
I have always appreciated the quality of Limelight Mechanics Vape tools. The 50/50 from long ago, the raffir options on other mods so dope. When I see Limelight Herb (on a Google search, for example), I see the same green circular ovalish emblem, with a slightly different shade. Wow, if this thermal extraction vaporizer device is descended from the very high-end vape minds, it feels like a no-brainer to me. Long established artisan VAPE tools. That knowledge applied to artisan VAPORIZER territory?
Yes, please! Tell us more!!
This is my first experience with their products and I’m honestly *blown away*.
I’ll have to look up their history. Everyone I’ve heard from has had nothing but praise for the Limelight brand.
The cooling unit was hard to remove on mine. The solution is to use a little silicone grease on the oven o-ring. Apparently a few units missed getting the o-ring lubricated before sending out.
I’m very impressed so far, and has replaced the Venty for me. It’s simply surpassed anything I’ve used before.
That’s what the Limelight rep told me too, I haven’t figured out how to reach the back of the o-ring yet. I am in love with this vape though
I checked their website, and they don’t have dozing capsules. So the question is: do the S&B dozing capsules fit? They just help keep the device cleaner. I love using dozing capsules with my Crafty+.
the S&B capsules fit and work, but they’re a bit tight on the height and need to align perfectly
Thanks for the info… excellent… I will buy one once it’s available on Canada!
Thanks Phil! I’m sure this will be a good investment
super fuggin awesome and psyched!!! the time has finally come!!! ❤️️ I’ve been so excited for this vape and your first look reactions and fiddlin with it has definitely confirmed my interest… I had an inkling it was gonna be like as if Storz & Bickel and Tinymight had a baby – this would be the result lol. It seriously looks great tho… Didn’t realize it also had an airflow control feature practically in the mouthpiece, so I’m definitely gonna love playin with that to find the sweet spot restriction for proper optimum vapor density. Surprised you didn’t try On-Demand, but I see your saving that for the next video (I’d probably be using it in On-Demand at higher temps for top performance per hits with preheats if/when needed, with ability to break in-between hits, especially if big and coughing)… the performance looks pretty great so far tho and looks super promising. This is absolutely gonna be my next vape purchase and can’t wait to be able to get one of these in my hands!!! You can even hear the heating when close to the mic, just like the Tinymight and a few others, and was interesting hearing the heating revving difference… I fuggin need one so bad Anyways, great first look and super pumped to see the upcoming content about this and your following vids (and I’m sure the great upcoming Think Dank episode coming when you both can try it out and hot box it up live)… Off to an awesome start – looks like Limelight is gonna be a success and have people clamoring for theirs…! Keep the juicy content rollin Troy, this is one a lot of us have been waitin for…. ✊️❤️
I’ve been using it exclusively in on-demand ever since shooting the first video, oddly enough. It heats up very fast.
I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about a new vaporizer
Thanks for the awesome first impressions Troy !!
Thanks for creating such an amazing device Liam!
I’ve been loving mine so far, really powerful heater and the heat up time is crazy… 5 seconds to 220 in session mode
Great to hear I’m not the only one loving this vape!
This honestly checks so many boxes. It seems they really tried to make a device with ALL the best features of other high end vapes. (Clever cooling unit, 240C temp celling, convection only, display, removable 21700 battery, TM2-like quick and powerful heater, airflow control and more)
I wonder how good the cooling is.
And if they are going to do any more early promotions.
I’ve never heard of this vaporizer brand before today and I’m seriously impressed.
Also unless the cooling unit is destroying the oven o-ring it might even be a plus that it’s so tight, better seal = better vapor usually.
It really does check a lot of boxes. The cooling is surprisingly good! I think the heater is also perfectly tuned.
I hadn’t heard of the brand either, but they do have a positive reputation in the e-cig space, which says a lot IMO.
Eventually you’ll have to address cleaning.
lmao, yeahh it’s the next bullet point on my review list.
it doesn’t look as bad as the Venty at least :)
Great review very similar thoughts overall.
Thanks! Have you found any issues or complaints?
Troy’s limelight review sold it to us.
We’ve just ordered our first dry herb vape and the Frolic seems like a good choice thanks for your honest review you made making up our minds much easier thank you Troy.
I’m excited for you! The Frolic is a piece of vape tech advancement, you’re going to love it!
Hi Troy we’re expecting our Frolic to be delivered today or tomorrow.
Can I ask what temperature range your finding good for the on demand mode?
If i’m looking for fast extraction I crank it up to 450F.
If i’m chilling i’ll temp step, starting at 370, 390, 420, then 450
I have a Venty, Tinymight2, Solo3 and Universal baller to name my current rotaion. I like them all but you made the Limelight Frolic too good to pass up. Ordered it after your unboxing and first impressions review. It was delivered right after I left for vacation can’t wait to get home and try it tomorrow.
You’ve got all the good ones! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the Frolic
Oh my god this Frolic vape is amazing.
It does exactly what you said in your video.
We’re so made up having one of these. We love it.
Great to hear!! I’m still enjoying mine, too.
Are you using on-demand mode or session mode?
Hi Troy
We have tried both session and on demand and for us personally we find on demand mode more Suitable for us at 200-220C.
We find 240C a bit harsher and lower temperatures really suit us.
The build quality is fantastic and Limelight have been brilliant to deal with. I lost my little cleaning pin and the guy just said” one will be posted to you today. Can’t ask for more than that.
It’s a potent vape, especially at those higher temperatures.
That’s awesome that they’re sending you a replacement pin, they seem authentic and generous.
Can’t thank you enough for your honest (and legendary) reviews as always.
Any chance your friends at POTV will make a glass adapter for this similar to the mighty/Venty adapters? That would let us skip the tight cooling unit issue and make it compatible with Lobo etc glass and maybe even s&b caps.
Thanks!!
Oooh that would be cool! We need to get PotV to carry the Frolic first! =D
