Spinning weed grinders are officially a thing now! Weed grinders have functional ball bearings, and they spin!
Made popular by the Old Mate grinder, from Australia, the Cyber Grinder uses a functional skateboard bearing design to make grinding weed effortless and fun. The teeth spin freely using a standard bearing, making this a weed grinder with a spinning top.
Dabhut's spinning weed grinder is branded as CeaseFire Hardware and has a cool combustion-in-the-crosshairs logo.
It features a simple design with all the elements we've come to love - sharp stainless steel teeth and a fun, functional spinning ball bearing top. Best of all, it's only $89

Cyber Grinder Review - A New Spinning Weed Grinder
The Cyber Grinder, or CeaseFire Hardware Spinning Weed Grinder, is a Chinese-made grinder that uses a rotating top. It's a stainless steel 3-piece grinder with a spinning top and a big bottom section to hold plenty of herb.
This grinder is clearly inspired by the Old Mate grinder and Brilliant Cut Grinder, two of the best grinders on the market. It has a spinning top just like the Old Mate. The teeth and thread-less connection point are both borrowed from the Brilliant Cut Grinder.

The Cyber Grinder is a medium-sized grinder, at only 2.45" wide and 1.6" tall. This grinder is small enough to travel, and large enough to serve most single-person sessions. As a weed grinder, it functions rather nicely. It's fun and functional
This grinder has a few minor caveats, but overall it's a wonderful value.
What is a Spinning Weed Grinder?
The newest generation of cannabis accessories is more than a fidget spinner weed grinder. The bearing design makes grinding sticky nugs extremely easy. Plus, the spinning top is hella fun!
Aside from easier, faster grinding, the bearing design provides a grinding area with no metal-to-metal contact. This greatly improves the longevity of the teeth. These teeth will stay sharper, longer!

Grinder Design & Spinning Mechanism
Cyber Grinder's teeth are very similar to those of the Brilliant Cut Grinder, which is the highest-performing grinder in my comparisons.
The S-shaped diamonds cut sticky herb quickly, and the outer crown teeth redirect herb inward while keeping the exterior grindwall clean. The teeth on this grinder will require very little maintenance.

The spinning mechanism functions and feels just like the Old Mate Aroma 3. There are minor differences in the center post design. Cyber Grinder's bearing is concealed by a magnetic top plate.
The thin stainless steel bearing cover is branded as CeaseFire Hardware. There may be other versions of the Cyber Grinder spinning weed grinder out there under other names, because this grinder is a Chinese white-label grinder.

Threadless Connections
Threadless weed grinders are the future, and threaded weed grinders are a thing of the past. The Cyber Grinder has no threads that can jam or cross-thread. To open the Cyber Grinder, grab the bottom section with one hand and the mid-section with the other, and lift the mid-section off the bottom with a slight angular motion. It's kind of like opening a clam.
The bottom section connects via a magnetic center post and 3 small nubs. This design looks just like the Brilliant Cut Grinder, and that mechanism has held up for years.

Ergonomics & Grip
This grinder is small and smooth. It looks slick, but it's surprisingly easy to grip. The size makes the round of the grinder fit perfectly to the curvature of my average-sized man hands.
Silicone grips were included with my grinder to improve its grip. The grips come in several different colors and they feel great on the grinder. My Cyber Grinder is branded CeaseFire Hardware and came from TheDabHut.
Build Quality, Durability & Longevity
The Cyber Grinder's stainless steel build looks and feels great. The metal has no machine-oil smells or tastes. Cheap Chinese grinders often use lower-quality materials and tools, but the Cyber Grinder feels like it's made with quality.
Other stainless steel grinders from this exact manufacturer have proven to withstand the tests of time. This is the same factory that makes the Odin grinder, which is one of the best budget stainless steel grinders available.
Grind Consistency & Performance
This is where real performance matters. The Cyber Grinder delivers a medium-fine grind consistency, leaning toward the medium. Most modern weed grinders produce a medium grind, which is perfect for all types of consumption.
Issues & Complaints
This grinder isn't perfect, and I don't expect it to be. It's made by a manufacturing team and merely "inspired by" the most popular weed grinders. The makers of this grinder aren't passionate stoners sitting around trying to solve problems or improve our sesh.
These complaints are minor, but they're annoying enough to notice.
- No Upside-Down Grinding - A well-known weed grinder hack to get a finer grind is to flip the grinder upside-down while grinding. This still works with the Cyber Grinder, but it will sprinkle herbs like a pepper grinder because of the gap.
- Two-Handed Opening - The bearing-and-center-post design requires the top piece to travel a long way to clear the teeth and the center post. I'm surprised by how often I try to open the top with a single hand.
- Not Air-tight - The spinning top creates a gap. Great for spinning, but not good for making a good seal. Ground herb left in the Cyber Grinder will dry out quickly. Vape it quickly or store it somewhere else.
- Top Heavy - There's a lot more metal in the top half of the grinder than the bottom. The lower section is completely hollowed out. This means it tends to land upside down when tumbled in a bag or backpack, sprinkling the herb along the way.
- Doesn't spin fast & long - I've been spoiled by my upgraded Old Mate grinder. With upgraded bearings and an optimized design, this could be spinning much longer.
- Not contoured base - Nitpicking here, but the base where the herb goes is milled out to a near right angle, and all of my fancy weed scoops don't fit it as nicely as they fit other grinders. Very minor complaint, but I scoop enough to notice it.
* This could be argued as a benefit, as the base will hold more herb than it would if it were milled out completely. - No Bearing Removal Tool - At the time of review, there is no bearing removal tool for the Cyber Grinder.
How it Compares to Other Spinning Grinders
There are only THREE weed grinders on the market that actually spin. The Old Mate Aroma 3 is the original spinning weed grinder. Bud Bee and the Cyber Grinder are the only other spinning grinders.

There are other weed grinders with ball bearings, but they suck, and they don't spin. I won't bother with the crappy ball-bearing grinders here, because they're just not good enough to mention.
Spinning Grinder | Metal | Size | Upgradable | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Cyber Grinder | 303 SS | 2.4" | Possibly | |
304 SS | 2.5" | Yes | ||
304 SS | 3.2" | Yes | ~250 | |
Old Mate XLTI | Titanium | 3.2 | Yes | ~$850 |
Aluminum | 2.5" | Yes2 |
Cyber Grinder captures most of the magic of the OG of spinning weed grinders - Old Mate Aroma 3. The center post aligns with a set of teeth centered around a skateboard bearing. The teeth float freely because there's no metal-to-metal contact. It's a very smooth experience - just like the Old Mate.
Old Mate and Cyber Grinder are the same diameter, but the Old Mate has a contoured body and top plate, making it much easier to grip and turn without excessive squeezing. Both grinders have optional silicone grips.
The Old Mate offers a nicer overall experience. Its top is easier to remove and spins slightly longer.
Old Mate's spinning grinder comes in 2 sizes, and their bearings can be upgraded using an optional bearing tool. With an upgraded bearing, my Old Mate spun for over two minutes.
Functionally, they're nearly identical. The Old Mate may be slightly finer grind consistency, but you'd need a microscope to confirm.
Old Mate Aroma 3 is made using high-quality, food-grade stainless steel (304), while the Cyber Grinder is made using 303 Stainless Steel. The 303 SS should be fine for a weed grinder, but it is less corrosion-resistant than 304, so the Cyber Grinder may not hold up quite as nicely.
Bud Bee is a nice grinder, too, but it's aluminum instead of Stainless Steel, and they've been struggling with their magnet adhesives.
The Cyber Grinder is the best overall value in the spinning weed grinder category.
Who Should Buy This Grinder?
Anyone looking for a high-quality, affordable spinning weed grinder but is unwilling to wait for Australian shipping times.
Old Mate Grinders ship from Australia and often take 8-10 days to arrive. There are currently manufacturing delays that add about two weeks to that delay. TheDabHut ships UPS from Michigan. Americans should receive their grinder in less than a week.
It's a fun grinder that does its job with little interference or maintenance. It's too heavy and leaky to use as a travel grinder, but I'll still carry it in my bag.

Final Verdict - Is the Cyber Grinder Spinning Grinder Worth It?
The CeaseFire Hardware / Cyber Grinder is worth it. Spinning weed grinders are as much fun as they are functional. They make grinding weed easier, and the spinning action provides great joy.
Yes, the Old Mate is nicer and more joyous - but some could easily prefer the round feel and larger base cavity. The price difference alone makes this grinder worth considering.
FAQ
Is this like the Old Mate grinder?
It's strikingly similar. It uses the same spinning ball-bearing top mechanism to provide fun, easy grinding. It's basically a cheaper, Chinese version of the Australian Old Mate Aroma 3.
Do spinning grinders actually work better?
Spinning grinders have a frictionless spinning top. When nugs are grinding, there's no other resistance at play. The spinning weed grinder acts like a pulley. It's easier to turn because of the spinning center post. The leverage uses less energy to do the job. Spinning grinders make grinding easier and more fun.
Is the spinning top just a gimmick?
I thought so too, but it's more than just a fidget spinner. The bearing design allows top-spinning without metal-on-metal contact. This frictionless grinding motion saves all the energy for the real job - grinding.
Is this grinder good for sticky weed?
Yes! The stainless steel surface is naturally sticky-resistant, and the top teeth will make quick work of the stickiest of icky.
Does it grind as well as a normal grinder?
They're the same teeth, they just spin. It's as good or better than most normal grinders.
What type of Stainless Steel is the Cyber Grinder?
The Cyber Grinder / CeaseFire Hardware grinder is made from 303 Stainless Steel.
Is the Cyber Grinder made using Food Grade Stainless Steel?
No, this grinder is made using 303. Food-grade stainless steel is 304.
