The Blazer BIG SHOT is also BIG MONEY. The Zoocura torch *looks* very similar to the Blazer GT8000, even offering itself in a bright teal blue! The Zoocura is 1/3 the price of the Big Shot – but how does it compare to the real Blazer?

I’ve only had the Zoocura torch for 3 or 4 months now, but I’ve been using it daily as my dab torch. My Blazer Big Shot recently started leaking so I picked up the Zoocura to use while the GT8000 gets warranty service from Blazer. The $59 Blazer has a ONE-YEAR warranty, but will still service out-of-warranty torches for $25. The Zoocura was $24 on Amazon Prime with 2-day delivery.

Of course, I’m going to do both because I LOVE the Big Shot, but its failure highlighted my need for a backup torch.

The Differences: Zoocura vs Blazer Big Shot

The Zoocura and the Blazer Big Shot are the same size and shape – but the flames are very different. The Zoocura has two smaller torch nozzles stacked over and under. The Blazer Big Shot uses a larger nozzle with more precision metal thingies inside.

Both torch nozzles do fine for heating hot bangers, but the Blazer Big Shot puts out more heat and has a more intense flame. That may not be desirable if you’re heat disciplined and prefer to gently heat your banger instead of getting it white hot each time. I take my bangers to 800 and get them fully hot each time.

The two smaller flames of the Zoocura may also be more agile and suited for heating particular shapes or angles.  They’re fun and unique to use after relying on the Big Shot for the last 5 years.

The flame and nozzle are the biggest difference. There are other quality differences that make the Blazer nicer, but they’re subtle differences.

My Zoocura fill nozzle doesn’t seal perfectly with any of my butane cans or adapters – including the ones that came with the torch! Every time I fill the Zoocura, it spews and sprays a bit of butane. This doesn’t happen with my Blazer Big Shot or any of my other high-quality torches.

The bottom sides of both torches are similar. The Blazer has an elongated base and stands sturdier than the basic round footprint of the Zoocura. Both of these “feet” are removable, interchangeable, and upgradeable. Blazer Big Shot upgrades are all also compatible with the Zoocura torch.

Both torches have a similar interface for the gas knob and the igniter button – but these two torch interfaces have some differences.

The Zoocura torch is more adjustable and can be dialed down low to create a soft flame.  There’s a longer range of adjustability on the Zoocura torch.

The Blazer has less adjustability. It’s either barely on, or it’s full afterburner mode.

The igniter on the Blazer is significantly better than the Zoocura. It has a distinct *ping* when ignited and feels higher quality. The Blazer Big Shot ignites the first time, every time. The Zoocura is reliable, but certainly has a sweet spot to find for the first time every-time ignition.

Zoocura vs Blazer Big Shot – Good Enough?

The Zoocura is good enough… so far. My Big Shot has lasted me 3 years and will cost me $25 to get fixed. If the Zoocura last longer than 18 months it will be a great value. If it only lasts a year, I’d rather invest in the Blazer Big Shot.

If you’re dabbing hard, daily, the Blazer Big Shot is going to serve you better.

If you’re dabbing at night and on the weekends, the Zoocura will totally get you by.
