2023 Update: The Flowermate Swift no longer keeps up with the competition. You can check out my best portable dry herb vaporizer guide for my consistently updated list of favorite vapes.
I’ve found myself using my Flowermate SWIFT more than any vape from my collection. My single complaint about this vape is the battery life. It’s not as bad as say the Grasshopper’s battery life… however, it does have one of the lowest battery lives from my collection. I did some research, and also came up with a trick or two for maximizing battery life.
Pack bowls back-to-back
One of the biggest battery drains on this vape is the bowl heating up. For maximum efficiency, I’ve had tremendous success with packing multiple bowls bac-to-back before the temp drops.
18650 Best Practices
The Flowermate SWIFT uses an 18650, and according to 18650 Battery Safety and Best Practices here are the Do’s and Don’ts:
- Don’t overcharge the battery – Unplug the battery the moment it is done charging. This will help preserve the battery life.
- Don’t charge the battery when it’s hot
- Don’t use the battery if there is rust, damage, bulging, or it unwrapped
- Don’t store the battery when it is completely empty
- Don’t store the battery with it being completely full
- Do store the battery at 40-50% charge
- Do top the battery off than to let it completely drain to zero
- Do keep the vape in a cool place, avoid high temps
- Do allow the battery 10 minutes of rest after a full charge
Keep it Clean
This one’s an easy one, keep it as clean and running in tip-top shape. The quicker you can finish your bowls, the less battery you will use up. The SWIFT has a habit of getting HUGE resistance once the internals of the mouthpiece starts clogging up.
External Battery Charger
The boy scouts hit the nail on the head with their motto, “Always be prepared.” When everything possible has been done and the vape still dies on you, it’s best to have a backup plan. I’ve made it a habit to have a fully charged external battery with me at all times throughout the day. Cellphones and vapes have a bad habit of dying at the most unfortunate times.
