Arizer Extreme Q Review

The Arizer Extreme Q and the updated XQ2 are budget-friendly full convection desktop vaporizers for dry herb cannabis. These powerful and affordable vaporizers are known for their high functionality and low price points.

The EQ and the upgraded XQ2 use convection to vaporize the dry herb. Convection vaporizers use hot air to heat the herb and vaporize it, similar to the Storz & Bickel Volcano. Convection vapor is known for having better flavor than other types of vaporizers.

Extreme Value: Budget-Friendly Desktop Vaporizer

The Arizer EQ ($135) and XQ2 ($199) offer functionality and features similar to the Volcano vaporizer and other high-end desktop vapes.

The Arizer EQ is $344 cheaper than the cheapest Volcano vaporizer and $425 cheaper than the top-of-class Volcano Hybrid. The EQ even makes it to the budget category for my best desktop vaporizers guide.

Arizer XQ2 and EQ vaporizer uses a whip or vapor bag

Arizer EQ / XQ2 Interface: How Does it Work?

The Extreme XQ2 and EQ can be used hookah-style with a whip, or as a bag/balloon vaporizer where the vape fills bags of vapor to pass around or hog to yourself. Switching between bags and whips is very simple, no tools required.

The XQ2 and EQ are designed with vapor purity as a high priority. The bowl and connecting components are all borosilicate glass. Arizer XQ2 and EQ bags use food-grade nylon that doesn’t affect vapor flavor.

Loading the Arizer EQ / XQ2

There are two ways to load dry herb into the Arizer EQ. The traditional loading method uses more herb while the elbow packing / screen packing method is more efficient and better with smaller amounts of herb.

The Arizer EQ / XQ2 is a full convection vaporizer and will function best with medium or coarsely-ground cannabis.

Arizer EQ / XQ2 Cyclone Bowl Traditional Pack

Loading the Cyclone Bowl

This is the traditional method and it works best with larger amounts of herb loaded into the bowl. Less than .3g tends to fly around and vape inefficiently while packing the cyclone bowl.

Elbow Packing the Arizer EQ and Arizer XQ2 Cyclone bowl

Elbow Packing / Screen Packing

Elbow packing utilizes a small rimmed basket screen installed in the male glass joint. Smaller amounts of weed are packed into the basket screen and it vapes more efficiently.

Elbow packing is the best way to get good, thick vapor from the Arizer XQ2 and EQ.
I wouldn’t use it any other way. Filling the bowl takes too much weed and puts out throat-tickly vapor. Elbow packing produces thicker vapor.

3 Ways to Vaporize with Arizer XQ2 and Extreme Q

The Arizer EQ/XQ2 is a versatile and functional vaporizer that can deliver multiple desktop vape experiences.

It is a bit of a Jack-of-All-Trades in a sense. Also a master of none.

Troy using Arizer EQ Hookah style with a Whip

Hookah Style Vaping

The Arizer XQ2 / EQ shines as a whip-style vaporizer. Inhaling through the whip produces smooth tasty vapor.

This mode works great with the fan.

Arizer EQ/XQ2 Vapor Balloon / Vapor Bag

Vapor Balloons / Bags

Both the EQ and XQ2 can fill vapor bags, similar to the Volcano vaporizer. Arizer EQ bags are a fun way to share.

Troy using Arizer XQ2 through a bong

Vaping with a Bong

The Arizer EQ/XQ2 whip can easily connect to most bongs and water bubblers. Vaping through a bong is a fun way to cool the vapor down and add a bit of moisture.

I like using the Arizer XQ2 and EQ with a whip. Elbow packing the whip makes a perfect daily-use desktop vaporizer. Elbow packing the whip makes it great for micro-dosing as well.

XQ2 vs EQ – What’s the Difference?

These two devices are effectively the same vaporizer with different upgrades. The XQ2 is a more refined unit with better accessories and a modern finish. In a blind vape test, I don’t think I could tell the difference.

Arizer EQ and XQ2 Desktop Vaporizers

Arizer Extreme Q / XQ2 Vapor Quality

The Arizer EQ and XQ2 are full convection, meaning they use hot air to heat and vaporize the cannabis. The all-glass bowl and vapor chamber maintain a clean and pure taste while cooling the vapor before it ever touches silicon or nylon.

The Arizer XQ2 vapor is less potent than most modern desktop vaporizers and heavy-hitting ball vapes. Expect to take 7-20 hits per bowl with the EQ or XQ2.

Looking for the most potent and flavorful vapor? See my Best Ball Vapes list for the heaviest-hitting vapes available.

For $135 the Arizer EQ is a fantastic value. The EQ can sit dormant and stealthy in a home and family environment without looking suspicious. It can even be used as a potpourri warmer or aromatherapy device.

The Arizer EQ has a small footprint while serving up big vapor. With the included whip, the Arizer Extreme Q can easily serve a large crowd. The whip set up is also wonderful for daily continual use and microdosing.

What’s included
– Arizer EQ Vaporizer
– remote control
– food grade whip/tubing
– 2 glass mouthpieces
– 2 bags/balloons
– 2 balloon mouthpieces
– balloon fill adapter
– extra screens
– aromatherapy/potpourri dish

Arizer EQ vs Volcano
Let’s be real here, the Storz & Bickel Volcano is a nicer device with a better warranty. Storz & Bickel is a German engineered brand that stands as the best. The Volcano is heavier, it’s easier to use, and produces better vapor with larger amounts of weed. However, the Volcano is also a unitasker – it’s a full-time bag vape without any other special features.

Is the Volcano worth $500 compared to the Arizer Extreme Q at $150? The Volcano is overpriced when compared to the Arizer EQ. The EQ can do everything the Volcano does and more. However, If you’re a bag-vape lover and dream of 10-foot vape bags, chances are the Arizer EQ won’t satisfy your demands.

I’m a casual bag-user. I chose the Arizer EQ over the Volcano many years ago after rigorous testing and I have no regrets.

I've been medicating with vaporizers, legally, since 2012. I started reviewing dry herb vaporizers and other cannabis products in 2015. I fell in love with creating content around vapes and cannabis vaporization. I'm passionate about the topic and the community. I love bringing people together and I love helping them understand the ins and outs of vaping weed.

      Hey Troy,

you mentioned in a video of yours that someone in your Discord server found a way to mod the EQ into a ball vape.
I’d be very interested in how to do that.
Could even be an interesting video to show the build and to test results of the mod?
      Best regards

I have owned a V-tower and two Extreme-Q Arizer vapes and a couple of Solos as well. Never mind the warranty, the backup from Arizer is ecellent and they have many times exheeded expectations in that regard. They want your loyalty that is obvious. I have no complaints about any of their products so far and consider the Extreme -Q to be the absolute best value for money desk top vape around. It is pretty and very versatile. I’d like the extra bowl capacity of the Volcano but with bags on the V-tower or Extreme-Q you can get as high as you want day after day. Note on the Solo, the battery life is extraordinary too.

Try sticking some 3 or 4mm quartz pearls in the underside of the glass that takes the flower and secure them in with a 20-25mm gauze and let it heat soak for a while and it really starts singing :-)
